Some people ask why spinal cord injuries cannot be repaired easily. The spinal cord is incredibly complex, and the tissues that are damaged take a long time to regenerate. The challenge scientists face is getting these tissues and nerves to regrow in a way that allows them to connect properly. There are many initiatives currently being explored, and hopefully, in the future, society will have a repair method that can be used for people with spinal cord injuries.
