SCI Awareness Day - Friday 15th May 2015
Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Day is a special event that allows people living with spinal cord injury to share their experiences with others, and to bring to the attention of the general public the issues and challenges that face those who live with this condition.
Aspire Law is proud to support SCI Awareness Day and works closely with those organisations that support people living with Spinal Cord Injuries. In addition both the individual affected, and their family members, may experience emotional trauma as they come to terms with the injury and rebuild their lives.
To help raise awareness of spinal cord injuries, we will be sharing stories and statistics on Friday 15th May on Twitter using #SCIawareness
Spinal Injury Charities
Every eight hours someone in the UK is told that they will never walk again due to spinal cord damage. It could happen to anyone, at any time, as a result of an accident or illness.
Injury to the spinal cord often results in paralysis as well as affecting other elements of a person's health, such as bladder and bowel management, temperature regulation and blood pressure control.
A number of spinal injury charities are getting involved on 15th May including Aspire, Back Up, Spinal Research, Spinal Injuries Scotland and the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) using the hashtag #everyeighthours.
The SIA has an exclusive hastag this year: #mymilestone moments which have been promoted throughout the week. Please share your achievements with the SIA using words, photos or mobile videos on Facebook and Twitter.
