Window cleaner paralysed following fall at customer’s home

Mr BC in the course of his self employment as a window cleaner fell from a window at a customers property causing paralysis from the neck. ASIA A.

The Defendant denied liability contending that Mr BC was in control of the planning and execution of the work.The Defendant following negotiation agreed settlement of the claim. The Defendant during the course of the claim invested under the Rehabilitation Code 2015 in Mr BC’s case, including for the appointment of a spinal cord Case Manager, enabling his discharge to be managed from a spinal cord centre into a specialised rehabilitation centre whilst a new suitable property was identified.
