Spinal Cord Injuries Awareness Day - Friday 19th May 2017
In the UK currently - there are over 40,000 people living with spinal cord injury. Spinal cord injury can cause paralysis, incontinence and loss of sexual function. Many with the condition will never walk again and will be dependent on a wheelchair and others to assist them. Around 55% of those affected are aged between 16-30. Each year, this number rises; with 1200 more people affected every year.
Spinal cord injury really can happen to anyone - at any time, as a result of injury, accident or illness. This is what makes Spinal Cord Injuries Awareness Day such an important event - particularly for us at Aspire Law.
The day allows people living with spinal cord injury to share their experiences with others, and to draw the attention of the general public about the issues and challenges that face those who live with this injury. It is so important to remember that both the individual affected and their family members will experience emotional trauma as they come to terms with the injury and learn to adapt their way of life.
Aspire Law is proud to support Spinal Cord Injuries Awareness Day. Aspire Law not only act for individuals often achieving seven-figure damages awards but they also share 50% of their profit with Aspire charity ensuring the wider SCI community are also supported.
To help raise awareness of spinal cord injuries, we will be sharing stories and statistics on Friday 19th May on Twitter using #SCIAware.
Thank you, from us all at Aspire Law.
